Cecil Riley – born 1917 – started painting at the age of 10 and still painting today !!!
Cecil is a Slade trained artist who has exhibited widely throughout the UK, mainly in London and the Westcountry.
He lives in Cornwall with his wife Joan who is also an accomplished painter and they are both a delight to know. He has produced a vast body of work over the past 84 years and here are just a few of his recent works in his “Plantscape” series…
It is a very busy time for me in Germany, and my most gracious thanks go out to everyone in Germany who is supporting and admiring my work, in particular the Julich Museum.
Today, to celebrate International Museum Day, there will be an official presentation of my latest work for the Museum collection, titled “Lempertz”, as seen in my earlier posts. This painting will join the four other works of mine whih the Museum already own. There will also be a talk about my work.
In addition to this wonderful event, but not connected with it, I am absolutely delighted that my work has just gone on exhibition in Kall. Last night was the opening of the show which is my fourth in Germany.
Yesterday afternoon I spent a good few delightful hours with my good friend Cecil Riley, and his wonderful wife Joan Riley, both of whom are incredibly gifted artists. Cecil and I had been planning this get together for a few weeks, probably since just after Christmas, but for one reason or another didn’t quite get around to it until yesterday !!
He is an incredible man and even though he is still only a young 90 something I think it is about time that he had a little bit more exposure on the internet. Over the coming weeks I will publish more information on Cecil and his art here on my news page….
