Latest paintings sold

I am delighted to report that it has been a busy month for sales with two more paintings sold this last week. These latest sales are to a Director of a German Bank and a Retired British Defense Attaché which further demonstrates the breadth and diversity of my collector base, all of whom I am ever grateful to for their love and support of my work.

Both of the paintings are from 2010, ‘Cosmic Lights, Mousehole’ which was originally exhibited at The Stoneman Gallery in Penzance many of you will remember was my 2010 Christmas Card and it has now gone to it’s new home.

The other one interestingly I only mentioned a week ago as it is one of the last of my original Falmouth Working Boat paintings, ‘Cousin Jinny’, from my exhibition at The Steele Gallery in Falmouth which was held during the 2010 Henri Lloyd Falmouth Week, and I was watching her in action again during this years event.

Falmouth Working Boats Revisited

Sparked by the recent Falmouth Working Boat “World” Championships, a five race series which took place at the end of June, and featuring many of my favourite Working Boats which I had previously painted for my Falmouth Exhibition for the 2010 Henri Lloyd Falmouth Week I decided to revisit the subject this year.

The first painting in my new series, which I recently completed, is titled ‘Rita Wins Again’ and was painted in recognition of her winning the World Championships. Others will follow intermittently as I shall be fitting them in, between other projects, as time allows.

Below are a couple of my paintings from 2010, ‘Cousin Jinny’ and ‘Cousin Jack’, and it was good to see these two fine boats battling it out again.

On Sunday I spent a few hours watching the racing and taking shots of these magnificent and colourful boats from the headland as they sailed in the bay of The Helford.

As is customary the opening day’s racing of the 2013 Henri Lloyd Falmouth Week was hosted by the Helford River Sailing Club and I saw many fine boats in action. Today I hope to get a few more photos of the boats from the Champagne Day racing, which is hosted by the Falmouth Town Sailing Club.

Two More Paintings Sold

With two more paintings sold this has been a busy few days with sales.

I am delighted that another two of my paintings sold yesterday, one of which will be staying in Cornwall and the other is off to the South East.

Both paintings are some of the last from my 2011 Lido series, which were exhibited at The Stoneman Gallery in Penzance, ‘Diving Platform – Weston-super-Mare’ and ‘Diving In Brockwell Park’

Thank you to the lovely Dominie and the ever wonderful Mary Oram who not only writes about my art but collects my paintings too.

‘Holy Night’ ~ latest sold painting

My latest sold painting ‘Holy Night’, which was exhibited in Kent last December, is returning to the South East following its purchase by a lovely lady, Sian, who was visiting my studio yesterday with her sister Dominie, and fell in love with it the minute she saw it.

Sian has also commissioned a painting which I am going to try and fit in this year for her once I have finished the work for the Jülich Museum.

‘St Piran In The Full Blaze Of Day’

The Hotel Victoria, which is prominently situated in the heart of Newquay, will be hosting a retrospective exhibition of my work in their magnificent Regency Room from 25 October to 6 November this autumn.   None of the paintings will be for sale but it will be the first time that many will be seen in Cornwall, including my 2013 work ‘St Piran In The Full Blaze Of Day’ which will make it’s debut at the show, along with others such as  ‘Rocket Man’,  a painting  which was previously exhibited twice in Bristol.

I shall be at the launch of the show to talk about some of the paintings and the ideas behind them.

The exhibition is being organised in support of Marie Curie and for the show I am in the process of painting my first work of the area since I moved to The Lizard from Falmouth three years ago.  It is a painting of Gweek Bridge and it is to be offered as a raffle prize, with 100% of the proceeds going to the charity.

This will be quite a special prize for Marie Curie as it will be the first of an occasional but ongoing series of paintings of this beautiful and most southern part of Cornwall.  Once the painting is finished and framed it will be available for raffle and full details will be released as soon as it is ready, along with further information on the exhibition.

Along with the painting of Gweek Bridge, ‘St Piran In The Full Blaze Of Day’ will be the centrepiece of the exhibition which opens on Friday October 25 and will run for 13 days.
