Sparked by the recent Falmouth Working Boat “World” Championships, a five race series which took place at the end of June, and featuring many of my favourite Working Boats which I had previously painted for my Falmouth Exhibition for the 2010 Henri Lloyd Falmouth Week I decided to revisit the subject this year.
The first painting in my new series, which I recently completed, is titled ‘Rita Wins Again’ and was painted in recognition of her winning the World Championships. Others will follow intermittently as I shall be fitting them in, between other projects, as time allows.

Below are a couple of my paintings from 2010, ‘Cousin Jinny’ and ‘Cousin Jack’, and it was good to see these two fine boats battling it out again.

On Sunday I spent a few hours watching the racing and taking shots of these magnificent and colourful boats from the headland as they sailed in the bay of The Helford.

As is customary the opening day’s racing of the 2013 Henri Lloyd Falmouth Week was hosted by the Helford River Sailing Club and I saw many fine boats in action. Today I hope to get a few more photos of the boats from the Champagne Day racing, which is hosted by the Falmouth Town Sailing Club.
