The 29th Day for Sequoia Tees

I am delighted to present my second exclusive design for Sequoia Tees ~ The 29th Day.

A special creation for a particularly significant day, the 29th February.

As with my previous design last year – Magnetic Sun, and all Tees in the Sequoia range, The 29th Day will be limited to 100 Tees in total and will only be available through Sequoia.

In response to the questions about this image here is an update.

Many of you who read this will know that as is often the case with my work there is a deeper meaning in the image. The title “The 29th Day” of course corresponds to the date at which the image was launched, the 29th February.

But the title also refers to a book of the same name by Lester Brown, which in turn takes the title from a French Riddle that is used to teach schoolchildren about exponential growth.

The following YouTube video link explains further……

The dates for my forthcoming exhibition at The ARTHouse Gallery in Bournemouth have been announced.

Chris Billington - 2012 : Signs : Secrets : Symbols

“2012 : Signs : Secrets : Symbols” will be on exhibition from the 6th July – 24th July inclusive,
there will be a Private View on the 5th July.

Several years in the planning, this exhibition is in response to the phenomenon and significance of the year 2012.

Referencing the year itself, which has its base in the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar of the Olmec and Maya peoples of Central America, it is an exhibition of Signs, Secrets and Symbols – encompassing belief systems, mysticism, secret knowledge, alchemy and science.

The Whole Earth – Biggs & Collings

On a recent short trip to London I was fortunate to have some time to visit the current exhibition The Whole Earth by Biggs & Collings.

In their own words Biggs & Collings believe colour and form can produce structural space that is like observable reality, and instead of depicting recognizable objects they use colour, pattern and repetition to create complex images that seem to them to be truthful about the sensation of seeing.

With titles derived from The Bibles’ Book of Genesis, The Whole Earth is a series of eight paintings showcasing at London’s Vigo Gallery. Strongly influenced by Biggs’ work with mosaics, clearly there are references to many styles in these paintings from Islamic art through to modernism as the eight intricately woven paintings of shimmering geometric forms and soft colours radiate on the gallery walls. A real visual feast for the eyes with each carefully crafted part of the whole appearing to be hand laid into the canvas with soul.

A must see exhibition in a wonderful and friendly gallery space and the free 16 page newspaper which accompanies the show was a special touch.

antiSocial Media Generation award

I was absolutely amazed when I received an Ipad in the post today from Korea’s Arirang TV, in recognition of the award given by them to my “antiSocial Media Generation” for Best Video/Soundtrack Report of 2011…

I am sure I will be able to put this to good use for some digital creativity during the coming months and years… thank you very much Arirarng TV.
