I am delighted that the first official details have now been released of my forthcoming exhibition at the Juelich Museum in Germany this autumn. With a focus on ‘Colour’ and ‘Reduction’ in my ongoing dialogue with Schirmer, the exhibition dates have been finalised and are published in the Museum Programm 2013.
Colour and Reduction – 15 landscapes to J. W. Schirmer ~ Chris Billington
The exhibition of ‘Colour and Reduction – 15 landscapes to J.W. Schirmer’ is being staged to mark 150 years since the great German landscape artist’s death and it is an absolute honour that my interpretation of his works will be shown to commemorate the occasion. Johann Wilhelm Schirmer is renown for his pivotal role in the Dusseldorf school of painting where he was Professor in the 1830’s.
Work on the paintings is currently ongoing in my studio and further information will be announced over the coming months. There will be a total of 15 paintings, one to mark each decade since the death of Schirmer.
