Gateway To Mecca @ Art Dubai

Gateway to Mecca (2012) - Chris Billington

Gateway to Mecca (2012) - Chris Billington

Painted specifically to debut at this year’s Art Dubai, this painting is a reference to Jeddah – being the principal gateway to Mecca – a crossroads of gold and precious metals bejeweled with the reddish pink and turquoise markings denoting it’s situation on the edge of the sparkling waters of the Red Sea.

“Gateway to Mecca” is symbolic of the meeting of mind and body, synchronicity of the soul as it enters a holy place and it is my first piece of work to go to Dubai.

Art Dubai takes place March 21-24, 2012 at Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai, further details can be found here Art Dubai
